THE family of missing Gosport sailor Timmy MacColl have spoken of their hope ahead of a visit to meet Dubai detectives next week.

Leading Seaman MacColl’s wife Rachael, 26, and her grandfather Jim Cunningham will travel to Dubai to be updated about the investigation.

Gosport-based LS MacColl was last seen by a shipmate from HMS Westminster getting into a taxi outside a Dubai nightclub in May last year.

Speaking to the BBC, Mr Cunningham said: ‘Well the hope is that of course they will come up with a definitive answer as to what’s happened.

‘If that’s not forthcoming, at least tell us what avenues they’ve explored, what the results were and what the future enquiries will be.’

As reported in The News on Saturday, Mrs MacColl, met with Alistair Burt, the parliamentary under secretary of state at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office last Thursday with Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage to prepare for the visit.
