A HONG KONG businessman who failed in an attempt to turn HMS Invincible into a floating nightclub could transform Ark Royal into a casino.

Kin Bong Lam is proposing to turn the former Royal Navy flagship into either a floating school or a floating casino hotel, it has been reported.

Earlier this month, Kin Bong Lam, who is chairman of the Birmingham-based Wing Wah restaurant empire, travelled to Portsmouth to view the decommissioned aircraft carrier.

The businessman previously failed in an attempt to turn HMS Invincible into a floating nightclub in the Far East.

He is one of 17 parties who has viewed the Ark since she was decommissioned.

Other investors have submitted a range of proposals including plans to turn the ship into a tourist site and museum in Gibraltar.

Another proposal could see the ship used as a heliport in London.

The 693ft carrier would then be manned by around 150 former servicemen, for whom she would be both a home and a job.

Bidding on the ship closes on June 23.
