A former Type 22 frigate’s last departure from Portsmouth has been delayed.

Cumberland was due to be towed out yesterday, but her voyage to a Turkish scrapyard was delayed by a final set of inspections. A new depature time today was also postponed.

Cumberland will be the third frigate to leave Portsmouth to be broken up for scrap, after Chatham and Campbeltown.

A date has not yet been set for the departure of Cornwall, the fourth and final frigate.
