FUTURE decision-making for military action will be better, says an MP.
Havant MP Alan Mak said: ‘David Cameron has already taken action to ensure decision-making for future military action is much better, and our troops are better equipped. He has set up the National Security Council to improve decision-making by bringing together political, military and intelligence expertise, and he’s committed to meeting Nato’s target of spending two per cent of national income on defence.’
Flick Drummond, MP for Portsmouth South, said: ‘I was always opposed to the invasion of Iraq in 2003. At that time, we were still heavily engaged in the conflict with the rebels in Afghanistan, and the added campaign stretched our forces. I was also doubtful about the evidence that Saddam posed a threat through the use of weapons of mass destruction.’
Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage said: ‘It is right this full, independent inquiry into the Iraq War has taken place. This can by no means take away the pain of losing a loved one. However I hope the report will finally give members of service personnel families who tragically lost a family member in this conflict, the answers they deserve about what happened and why.’
