YOUNG night owls will get the chance to see a pair of museums in a different light next month.

Action Stations and the National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard will be taking part in the Museums at Night event for the first time.

Aimed at youngsters aged five to 12, it is part of the annual nationwide after-hours celebration of arts, culture and heritage when hundreds of museums, galleries, libraries, archives and heritage sites open their doors for special evening events.

Deborah Hodson, learning manager at the NMRN, said: ‘This is a new venture for us and we’re really looking forward to taking part in Museums at Night, along with Action Stations, for the first time.

‘We can guarantee that it will be lots of fun and we’ve got a great range of activities lined up for participants to enjoy.’

The event begins at 6.30pm on Friday, May 17, and runs through to Saturday morning with a full schedule of exciting activities. Tickets cost £15 per child, accompanying adults are free.

For security reasons, booking closes at 5pm on May 14. Call 0844 8805406 for tickets, or find more information at
