Gosport navy chapel restored ahead of special visit

A MEMORIAL chapel at an MoD site in Gosport has been restored to its former glory.

The Submarine Service Memorial Chapel in Fort Blockhouse was restored ahead of a visit from nine members of the Talbot family, related to Admiral Talbot, Flag Officer Submarines in the 1930s.

A team of sailors from Victory Squadron, HMS Collingwood helped with the project, cleaning and painting the chapel.

Leading Engineering Technician Connor Sellars said: '˜It was a privilege to have the responsibility to take charge of renovating such an historic chapel which is steeped with submarine history.'

During their visit, the Talbot family also saw some artefacts held by the Royal Navy Submarine Museum.
