historians have been researching the names of people killed in the First World War as part of a town’s history project to commemorate the centenary of the conflict.

The project is hoping to shed light on the stories of 55 men listed on the war memorial in Bishop’s Waltham.

Alan Inder, of Andrewes Close, Bishop’s Waltham, is leading the Great War project and is appealing for anyone with information about these men to get in touch.

He said: ‘At the moment we only have basic information and it is very hard and time-consuming to get more. If anybody knows anything about these men, then please get in touch.’

The 67-year-old is compiling the stories to publish in the parish newsletter ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
