ONE of the navy’s biggest ships will be open to visitors when it sails into the Southampton Boat Show this week.
HMS Bulwark – an 18,000-tonne amphibious assault vessel – will arrive at about 1.30pm on Thursday, and will host a reception for invited guests that evening.
It will then welcome on board members of the public over the next three days – Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Visitors will be able to tour the huge ship and talk to members of her crew.
The ship has reached the end of sea training, having recently emerged from an 11-month upgrade at her base port in Devonport, Plymouth.
The ship can be reached from Berth 101. It will be open from 11am to 6pm on Friday and Saturday, and 10am to 12.30pm on Sunday.
Bulwark will shortly take part in the Joint Warrior multi-national exercise in Scotland, before taking over as Fleet Flagship from her sister HMS Albion in mid-October.
