AIRCRAFT carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth's escort is taking part in a US display.
Type 23 HMS Monmouth will join in the Maryland Fleet Week and the Baltimore Air Show. The frigate is supporting the Portsmouth-based carrier overseas in America.
Commander Will King, commanding officer of Monmouth, said: ‘I am delighted to be sailing HMS Monmouth to Baltimore to participate in Maryland Fleet Week.
‘My sailors have been working hard to support HMS Queen Elizabeth as she conducts iconic first of class F-35B flying trials, and we are now thrilled to have the opportunity to show off the Black Duke to the people of Maryland.’
As reported, pilots conducting test flights with F35B Lightning jets landed on Queen Elizabeth at night this week after last week’s historic first landing.
