FORMER crew members gathered to say goodbye to HMS York as she left Portsmouth for the last time today.
The decommissioned Type 42 destroyer is being towed to a scrapyard in Turkey.
People gathered at the Round Tower, in Old Portsmouth, to wave goodbye as the ship sailed past.
Parade marshall Dean Deakins, from the Type 42 Association, said: ‘It is very sad to see it decommissioned.
‘We wanted to give it a ceremonial goodbye along with former crew.’
Last week York’s sister ship Edinburgh also left Portsmouth for the last time headed for the scrapyard.
