VETERANS from the Second World War are being asked to speak about their experiences as part of a themed educational day.

The Spinnaker Tower in Gunwharf Quays will be hosting the event in October this year.

Action Stations in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard will also be welcoming school pupils on a day out to learn about rationing, evacuation, wartime communication and local history.

The educational day will be accompanied by an exhibition entitled Portsmouth Then and Now, which will be held at the tower from September 23 to October 6.

It will be exploring Portsmouth during the Second World War, and will be using the views from the tower to compare the changing faces of the city with photography taken in 1940s Portsmouth.

Anyone interested in volunteering to speak should contact Jane Chivers, the Spinnaker Tower’s business coordinator.
