NAVAL support ship RFA Wave Knight has been involved in another Caribbean drugs bust.

The Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship worked with the US Coast Guard to seize cocaine worth around £8.5m.

While on patrol in the Caribbean Sea, Wave Knight’s crew spotted a suspicious speedboat operating in the area.

A US Coast Guard helicopter was dispatched from the ship and saw two men throwing packages into the sea.

Warning shots were fired, forcing the speedboat to a standstill.

The team then boarded the boat, and recovered several packages containing 170kg of cocaine.

Armed forces minister Mark Francois said: ‘I am delighted the men and women of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary have once again provided vital assistance to the international counter-narcotics mission.’
