THE military operation to deliver aid to the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan cost £10m, according to defence minister Mark Francois.

The Department for International Development is expected to reimburse the Ministry of Defence the full cost of sending Royal Navy ships to the region over the last two months.

The operation involved Portsmouth-based HMS Illustrious and HMS Daring, along with two RAF Hercules, and a logistic support team.

The aid ended last week.
