A COMMITMENT to support the armed forces was reaffirmed when leaders met.

Officers from the Royal Artillery Joint Ground Based Air Defence units at Thorney Island met councillors from West Sussex County Council and other community leaders to discuss the Armed Forces Covenant.

The agreement says councils have a moral obligation to members of the military and their families.

Nigel Peters, county council vice-chairman, told people at the event: ‘It’s important we ensure we do all we can to help them and their families find their feet and settle back into civilian life as quickly as possible at the end of service.’
