Airbus has more than 25 sites across the UK and is a key supplier for the Ministry of Defence.

The redundancies are due to take place before the end of 2021, with 829 jobs being cut in Germany, 630 in Spain, 404 in France and 142 in other European countries.

It comes as the company enters a restructuring process across Europe, following an announcement in December last year.

The company says further financial implications are also under assessment.
