THE Emirates Spinnaker Tower will be lit up in the colours of the French flag tonight.

The tower has announced that it will be lit up to show solidarity after the attacks in Paris last night.

A wedding is taking place at the venue tonight and the bride and groom had requested it to be lit in their chosen colours but they have changed the lighting to pay respect to those who lost their lives.

A message on the Facebook page read: ‘Emirates Spinnaker Tower will be lit red, white and blue from 9pm tonight to honour those who lost their lives or were affected by the Paris attacks yesterday.

‘Thank you to the bride and groom who are hosting their wedding at the Tower this evening for graciously changing their lighting to allow this to happen. Best wishes to you on your special day.’

The flags outside the civic offices at Portsmouth City Council have been lowered to half mast.
