NAVY sailors from Portsmouth are returning to the UK after completing an aid mission to a storm-battered tropical island.

RFA Lyme Bay has now left the Caribbean island of Dominica following the devastating tropical storm Erika, which hit there last month.

Lyme Bay personnel helped clear away debris and mud while Royal Navy medics treated those injured.

Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said the crew ‘can be proud of their efforts’ helping islanders to ‘rebuild their lives and return to normality’.
