DOCTORS, nurses and patients paused with members of the armed forces to pay their respects yesterday.

A service was held at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, with a representative from the army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force.

Peter Mellor is the director of corporate affairs at the Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust.

He said: ‘The people of Portsmouth are very proud of the naval tradition. It’s an opportunity for local people to show their support for the armed forces.’
