Remembrance Day 2018: Portsmouth schoolchildren inspired by Tower of London displayÂ

The poppy display at the Tower of London was Copnor Primary School's inspiration for their remembrance proceedings this year.

To mark the centenary since the end of the First World War, the school decided to create a display similar to the capital's a few years ago.

The project involved pupils, parents and staff across the school including deputy head Sara Petipher who wanted the display to specifically interact the children.

She said: '˜The children each made a poppy out of clay and then painted them. These will be displayed in our wildlife area.

'˜We wanted everybody to feel that they could contribute to the display.'

Mrs Petipher said she was keen for the children to be think deeply about the project.

She said, '˜We wanted to give the children an opportunity to reflect on what those soldiers did for us.'
