A TEAM of 70 volunteers from HMS Sultan in Gosport showed their support for the Royal British Legion by helping out at London Poppy Day.

The group raised a total of £160,418.49 in 12 hours – with Chief Petty Officer Simon Bailey from HMS Sultan thanking the public for their support.

He said: ‘To see how generous the general public can be on occasions like these was just amazing.

‘Everyone involved was saying how this was possibly the proudest thing they’ve done in their uniform.’
