FAMILIES whose loved ones have been serving at sea for the last seven months will be reunited with them as HMS Richmond sails into Portsmouth tomorrow.

The Type 23 frigate has covered more than 33,000 nautical miles and visited seven foreign ports while on maritime security operations in the Atlantic.

HMS Richmond will return to the city tomorrow at around 9am.

Commander Robert Pedre, the ship’s commanding officer, said: ‘HMS Richmond has enjoyed a hugely successful seven-month operational deployment, conducting maritime security operations in the Atlantic, Antarctic, Eastern Pacific, and Caribbean Sea. I am immensely proud of my ship’s company’s many accomplishments on this remarkable deployment and as we return home I would like to thank our families and friends for their support.’
