PROUD sailors were reunited with their ship HMS Chiddingford in Portsmouth, after it had spent a year in dry-dock.

The ensign was raised and crew five marched aboard the Hunt Class Mine Countermeasures ship.

They brought the vessel back from the Arabian Gulf last August, where the ship
had been deployed for three-and-a-half years.

The ship has been in dry-dock for the last year as part of a project to fit her with new diesel engines, computer and monitoring systems.

The crew also enjoyed a celebratory drink of rum to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, which was delayed so they could take it aboard their ship.
