THE Royal Navy celebrated Bonfire Night in dramatic fashion this week – tying in the firework displays across the region with a majestic routine test.

A Wildcat helicopter, belonging to the Royal Navy’s type 45 destroyer, HMS Diamond, test fired her defensive flare systems on Monday, November 5.

During operations, the helicopter won’t fire off all flares at once.

HMS Diamond sailed from Portsmouth in September for operations in the Mediterranean where the Type 45 destroyer is providing reassurance to allies in the region throughout the autumn.

The deployment follows a busy few months for HMS Diamond and her crew, who spent most of the summer operating in or around UK waters.
