LAST-MINUTE preparations are being made for an event which will see soldiers being honoured for their bravery.

The 47th Regiment Royal Artillery, based on Thorney Island, will hold a medals parade in Havant Park at 10.15am on Saturday and have the freedom of the Borough of Havant bestowed upon it at the same time.

The 150 troops will be presented with their Operational Service Medals because they were deployed in Helmand, southern Afghanistan, for six months. The Mayor of Havant Cllr Gerald Shimbart will attend.
