HMS Queen Elizabeth will be returning to Portsmouth this morning, the navy has confirmed.

The Royal Navy has revealed that the carrier will be sailing past the Round Tower and into Portsmouth Naval Base at 9.50am today.

The ship has been out on helicopter flight trials for the past month.

Portsmouth Naval Base tweeted earlier this morning: ‘@HMSQnlz is planned to sail back into HMNB Portsmouth this morning.

‘Catch her going past the Round Tower around 0950.’
