ANGRY workers at delivery firm City Link staged a protest outside John Lewis in Southsea.

Saturday’s demo was organised by the RMT union, which says City Link’s new owners, Better Capital, have launched an ‘all-out assault’ on workers’ contracts.

The RMT’s Sean Hoyle, RMT said: ‘Staff face pay cuts of up to £4,000, enforced overtime, the axing of the bonus scheme and changes to travel arrangements. The RMT will continue to protest outside companies that use City Link,’

‘If that pressure doesn’t bring City Link to their senses, then strike action leading up to Christmas will be considered.’

In September, a planned strike by the RMT was withdrawn.

A spokesperson for City Link said: ‘City Link is disappointed that some union members have taken it upon themselves to hold demonstrations while talks continue.’

‘The disagreement stems from the new pay and conditions framework designed to be fairer to all City Link’s front-line colleagues.’
