Staff at Waitrose in Locks Heath took part in a dementia workshop to help them assist customers with the condition.

The session run by Home Instead Senior Care, provides at-home care for older people with dementia.

Co-ordination manager at Waitrose, Kate Mortimer said: ‘It was really informative and has definitely got our staff talking.

‘It will certainly help understanding how to deal with situations and making the shopping experience more enjoyable for our customers.’

With an ageing population, cases of the condition are on increasing at an alarming rate, which means that more and more people will be affected by the disease at some point in their lives.
