REAL ales and ciders are set to go down a storm at this year’s Wickham Charity Beer Festival.

Up to 40 different beers will be on offer at the annual event, which is at the Wickham Centre, in Mill Lane, on Saturday, April 14.

Visitors will be treated to a barbecue and live music at the festival, which is in its eighth year.

Tickets cost £4 for the afternoon session and £7 for the evening session. An all-day ticket costs £9.

Proceeds from the day will go towards Sophie’s Appeal, which is part of children’s cancer charity The Sophie Barringer Trust.

Money will be raised for Trust 2000, which raises money for community projects in the UK and overseas.

Last year, £5,848.55 was raised for worthy causes.

Martin Roberts, of Bowman Ales, which is one of the festival’s sponsors, said: ‘I’m looking forward to it.’
