A MAN will start to pay back Gosport’s council after the authority was forced to pay an unpaid bill from a music festival.

Dale Fletcher, 34, of Gosport, is to pay the borough authority £500 at £10 a week starting this week over the bill from the Gosport Waterfront Festival in June 2012.

As reported, the council had to fork out nearly £500 for an unpaid PRS bill – or, as the landowner, it could have faced legal action.

Mr Fletcher, then one of the festival’s directors running the festival, said: ‘I’ve agreed to pay them ten pounds a week.

I haven’t started on those payments. I received the invoice from them yesterday (Tuesday) or the day before.’

As reported, councillors had agreed before the festival that the authority would not provide any cash for the festival. The news of the council having to step in sparked fears it could be liable for other bills, but this was refuted.
