As well as free access to magazines and books, library card holders can get 20 per cent discount on Hovertravel tickets and all-attraction tickets to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and 25 per cent discount off entry to the Spinnaker Tower.
And they get £2 off admission to the Blue Reef Aquarium in Southsea.
Other offers include 20 per cent off at Mozzarella Joes, 10 per cent off at Blossoms the florists and free swimming for children under 12 at Mountbatten Centre, in Hilsea, Eastney Swimming Pool and Charter Community Sports Centre, in the city centre.
A spokeswoman from Portsmouth City Council added: ‘Library cards have many other benefits too – you can use them to access free music online, download comics and electronic magazines like Cosmopolitan, National Geographic and Total Film.
