FIRE fighters tackled a van blaze in Portsmouth in the early hours of this morning.

An appliance from Southsea fire station was called to Hayling Avenue to reports of a burning vehicle at around 2am.

On arrival they found a low loader disposable rubbish van well alight.

Crews used two sets of breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.

No one was hurt in the incident.

A spokesman for the fire service said the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
