PEOPLE are being encouraged to dig deep and donate as trolleys start filling up for our Christmas Food Appeal.

As reported in The News yesterday, we have launched a campaign to help feed those in need this Christmas time, two years after we ran a similar push.

Supermarkets and food banks across the area are collecting donations of non-perishable food such as biscuits, crisps, tea and coffee.

Lesley Powell is the PR ambassador for Sainsbury’s in Farlington.

She said: ‘It was very successful last time. At this time of year it’s important that people support those that need it.

‘The customers will support it. We had trolley loads last time. It was very well received. We had all sorts of things put in the trolley. Both customers and staff are very supportive of it.’
