A DOG was shot dead by a hotel pest controller after it wandered on to a golf course.

The lifeless body of Buffy, a four-year-old whippet, was found by owner John Kirby, whose home backs on to the Meon Valley Marriott Hotel’s golf course in Shedfield.

Hampshire Police have spoken to a man about the incident but had made no arrests.

A spokesman for the hotel said: ‘We are deeply sorry for the distress this incident has caused and will do all we can to assist the police.’
