CASH has been donated to a group of young musicians.

Elson Youth Orchestra has been given £1,000 by the John Lewis Partnerships –Music Matters scheme.

The money went toward the brass section of the orchestra.

Musical director Richard Boland wants to develop this section.

He said: ‘I have wanted for some time to add brass players to the existing string, woodwind and percussion sections of the orchestra.’

He added it means the group can buy music suitable for very young musicians.
