A popular musical fundraiser has nearly broken the £100,000 mark.

The annual Drakefest event at The Admiral Drake in Kingston Crescent, Portsmouth, took place last weekend and was a roaring success.

There were performances from 20 local bands across the three-day music festival.

Drakefest has been running for eight years and has now raised close to £100,000 for charities across the area.

This year, all money raised was given to Macmillan Cancer Support, Breast Cancer Care, Sam’s Haven Charity and Hannah’s Holiday Home. Bands gave up their time for free to take part in the fundraiser.

There were two stages set up at the pub and bands performed every hour during a packed schedule, including shows by New Boys and Dab Hand.

More than 1,500 people attended across the three-days, hosted by landlords Simon and Karen Hughes.
