Driver is airlifted to hospital after collision

A DRIVER was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after he lost control of his car.

The accident happened at 4.15pm yesterday as the car was travelling along Aldsworth Common Road from Emsworth.

The motorist lost control of his small silver Peugeot and it ended up in a field.

Passers-by called the emergency services and South Central Ambulance attended.

They treated the driver at the scene and called for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance which transported the seriously injured driver – believed to be a local man in his 30s – to Southampton General Hospital.

In a statement Sussex Police said the accident happened just before Broadwash Bridge.

The road was closed for several hours following the accident. Anyone with information should call police on 101.
