THERE was an invasion of yellow plastic ducks on what is normally a quiet stretch of the River Meon.
But it was all for a good cause, as 1,000 of the ducks were let loose to help raise money towards a new HQ for the 1st Wickham Scout group.
The group is trying to raise £140,000 after their old hut was destroyed in an arson attack five years ago.
People could sponsor ducks at £1 a time, with cash prizes donated by local company All Time Grates as well as a race for businesses.
Fundraiser Jenny Bunce said: ‘This is a great fundraiser for us and we had a phenomenal day raising just short of £2,000. We’ve got a lot of community spirit behind us.’
