A TIRED looking classroom and conference room will be given a makeover thanks to a £350 award.

The independent education and learning centre, the Sustainability Centre in East Meon, has been awarded funding from the Community Chest fund.

The self-financing centre teaches people how to make their lives healthier, greener and more ethical.

The Community Chest fund is supported by BBC Radio Solent and aims to give cash to grass-roots activities in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight.

The money will enable the centre to spruce up its conference room and educational classroom.

Chief executive, Christine Seaward, said: ‘We are delighted to receive this funding.

‘The conference and education classroom are used by nearly 8,000 people each year. This will be of huge benefit to the community, enabling us to provide a better service and a more pleasant experience.’

The centre will paint a mural reflecting the natural beauty of the South Downs.
