Easter fun at Fort Nelson

FAMILIES can take part in a host of activities during the Easter break.

Fort Nelson, in Fareham, is holding a number of Roman-themed events before travelling forward in time and putting on activities from the Second World War.

The fort’s Roman activities include teaching children shield formations as well as showing them objects from the Celtic period.

Youngsters will also have the chance to learn about mechanical artillery.

The Second World War sessions will see a 25-pounder Howitzer gun being fired at 1pm every day before a demonstration of mechanical, pre-gunpowder artillery at 3pm.

Some of the Roman activities are on from March 26 until April 8 between 10am and 4pm. The shield drills and catapult sessions are on at 11am, noon, 2pm, 3.30pm from March 28 and Friday April 8.

Entry is £3.50 per child and numbers are limited to 16 per session.
