PAYING tribute to a man who changed education in a borough, a society held a service.

The Society of the Priceans attended a service at the churchyard of St Peter and St Paul’s church, on Osborn Road in Fareham, to pay tribute to William Price.

Mr Price founded Price’s school in 1721 and his support for education in Fareham continues through charity. On Sunday, the society laid a wreath in his honour.

Derek Marlow, vice-president of the society, said: ‘Around 30 people attended the service from the society which is made up of former pupils of the school as well as former headteachers.

‘The service is an annual event and at midday we laid a wreath to remember all the hard work William Price did for education.’
