A FUNDRAISING day at a Purbrook children’s centre which received a footballers’ kick-start was a great success.

Dozens of youngsters and their families enjoyed penalty shoot-outs with members of Havant & Waterlooville Football Club – the Hawks – and met farm animals and enjoyed craft workshops at Crookhorn Lane Children’s Centre on Saturday.

The event was in aid of the centre’s Families Forum which organises family trips for free.

Hayley Smith, the forum’s secretary, said: ‘It was an excellent day and we managed to raise £160 with the raffle alone.

‘The animals were a big hit and the Hawks were brilliant. We also had face painting, biscuit decorations and more. Even the rain didn’t stop the fun.’
