STUDENTS at Portsmouth High School in Southsea are celebrating getting their A-Level results this morning.

The school achieved a 36 per cent A*-A pass rate and a 77 per cent A*-B pass rate.

Head teacher Jane Prescott said: ‘We’re very proud of all our girls.

‘While there is an environment of decreasing grades our girls have bucked that trend and done extremely well.’

One student, Josie Wilks, 18, said she was thrilled to have received two As and one A*.

She now plans to study classics and English at Oxford.

Josie said: ‘I’m ecstatic. I thought I would maybe get the marks I needed but to have exceeded that is really nice.’
