A recipe for success at Rowland Castle school

Praise for outstanding school

Have your say

MOST of us have heard of ingredients like vanilla essence and lemon essence in cooking.

But a school has come up with its own culinary essence in a bid to raise money for an outdoor education area.

St John’s Primary School in Rowland Castle is to publish a cook book called Essence of St John’s. The colourful book is filled with recipes from parents, teachers and organisations from the village, including the WI.

The school, in Whichers Gate Road, is in the second year of a five-year fundraising plan to complete an outdoor learning area.

The project will feature a woodland walk, allotments, and an open air classroom.

Ruth Butler, from the PTA, came up with the idea for the recipe book and hopes it will raise more than £2,000 towards the target for this year of £8,000.

She said: ‘The book is going to be professional and really high quality, so we are confident that it will help us to hit our target.’

The book costs £10. It will be available in shops in Rowlands Castle from November 12. To order one call (023) 9241 2095.
