IN THE run-up to strike action by two major teaching unions, dozens of schools across The News area have confirmed they will be closing due to a lack of staff.

According to a survey compiled by this paper, 23 schools in Portsmouth, 18 in Havant, 12 in Fareham, 10 in Gosport and five in East Hampshire will shut when NUT and ATL members take industrial action over changes to their pension. A further nine in Portsmouth, five in Havant, five in Fareham, two in Gosport and two in East Hampshire schools will partially open.
