THE University of Portsmouth’s student and graduate enterprise manager Dr Philip Ely has been named as one Britain’s top 50 business advisers.
He is the only university-based adviser given an award by Enterprise Nation for his work with student and graduate start-up businesses and development of enterprise skills among students.
He said: ‘Turning a great idea into a viable start-up can be a lonely path.
‘Having someone to validate ideas with you in the early stages is as important as the nitty-gritty of operations in the future.
‘We’re encouraging our students to take a lean approach to starting-up – build prototypes, speak to potential customers early and focus on earning some cash.’
