BUDDING writers in the city are being urged to put pen to paper and enter a competition.

The School Essay Competition, organised by Disability Awareness, asks children aged seven to 11 to write a short story or essay on the subject of disability.

Winning entries will receive £50 and their school will get a further £100.

Entries will be judged by author Sharon Petersen, most famous for writing The Naturals, and Disability Awareness patron the Rev Joanna Jepson, who lives in Old Portsmouth.

They must be no longer than 500 words and submitted by November 3.
