A CHOCOHOLIC student has been named the winner of a national poetry competition.

Ruth O’Sullivan, 14, from St Edmund’s Catholic School in Portsmouth, has been presented with a huge box of chocolates after she was named the winner of the Divine Poetry competition in the 12 to 16 years category.

Her poem, called Divine, is about a popular chocolate shop in a big city.

Ruth said: ‘I was quite happy with the achievement and I’m pretty excited with the chocolate.

‘I quite like the story telling and people have been telling stories forever so it’s nice to share in that.’

Lauren Jones, English teacher at the school, said: ‘I’m really delighted for her but not surprised as Ruth is a very talented writer.

‘She’s a real role model to the school as a writer.’
