THE silver jubilee of a college in Gosport is set to coincide with one of its most ambitious building projects next year.

Principal Di Lloyd, of St Vincent College, said she was looking forward to celebrating the landmark 25th anniversary with a range of new courses and a £1.5m spruce-up of the historic campus.

A hair salon will open on the site in January and a purpose-built home for the Gosport Marine Skills Centre, offering core skills for the marine industry, is due to open by September 2012.

In January the college will launch new courses in marine skills, hair and carpentry for students seeking a fresh start. Ms Lloyd said: ‘It is a very exciting time at St Vincent.

‘I can’t think of a time where I have been more optimistic about the future. We are investing significant money in meeting the educational needs of not only young people, but our wider community.’ For more details about the January courses visit the college website or attend an enrolment day on December 7 from 1.30pm until 3pm.
