MORE than 200 people crammed into Portsmouth Cathedral for Portsmouth High School’s Gala Concert.

Composer, pianist and conductor Dr Stephen Montague was at the concert and conducted his piece called ‘Dark Sun – August 1945’.

He said: ‘It was tremendously exciting to work with the girls from Portsmouth High School.

‘Every group brings its own unique qualities to the performance and it was wonderful working with these amazing musicians.’

Chairwoman of governors at the school, Anne McMeehan-Roberts added: ‘You couldn’t hear a pin drop in the cathedral. The performance was intoxicating.’
