DOZENS of young families enjoyed a fun day packed with Easter treats and activities at a children’s centre.
More than 60 under-fives and their parents took part in an Easter egg treasure hunt, made Easter bunny masks and Easter collages at Cumberland Children’s Centre in Eastney.
They also received a visit from the mobile library whose staff led a rhyme-time session using puppets, and police community support officers who let the children get into their van and pretend to drive it.
Vikki Farndell, event organiser and centre co-ordinator, said: ‘This activity morning was planned by our Parents Forum and has been a great success.
‘By telling us what they need the parents get the services that are most appropriate for themselves.
‘Using the school building during the holidays ensures that this great space is not wasted and that we have plenty of safe spaces for events like this.
‘We were a little concerned about the weather but the rain stayed away allowing the children to play safely outside in the wonderful play space and have fun exploring the police van and the library bus.’
